Two completely separate terms and definitions often confuse project participants.

Fluid Applied Roof Membrane: Its purpose is to provide a low Permeance (Non breathable) water tight/ waterproof foundation barrier application of the roof system. Depending on the product composition it can be used as both foundation and surface application.

Liquid Applied Roof Coating: A coating whose purpose is to provide a sacrificial wear surface over a roof system. Typically a higher Permeance (>1 perms) (Breathable). Depending on individual product composition it can be used at higher rates of application as both foundation and surface application to achieve a Permeance of (<1 perm).

Metal (Ducts, Roof Panels, Wall Panels, Coping, Flashings, Gutters).
Single Ply (EPDM, PVC, TPO, Hypalon).
Wood (Nailers, Support Blocks).

Incompatible Substrates:

Silicone.
Coal Tar.
Some Plastics or Vinyl’s
Not intended as an unprotected finished traffic or pedestrian walkway.

Products:

RMI’s high solid, low perm products create a fluid applied vapor retarder roof membrane matching roll sheets forming a durable, seamless monolithic membrane with superior adhesion bonding & conforming to the applied substrate surface. RMI high solids cure in hours, not days.

Installation:

Spray, roller or brush field fabrication of fluid applied components allow specifiers and contractors to dial in system thickness by project specific needs.

Performance:

Fluid Applied Membrane Perm rating: Non Breathable per Permeance testing.
Liquid Applied Roof Coating Perm rating: Breathable per Permeability testing.

DIRECT PRODUCT PURCHASES

RMI has developed a direct sale program with public entities such as schools, city, state and federal agencies. The program is intended to support RMI’s cooperative purchasing program. Entities that are registered within programs, as TIPs, cannot only buy our time tested products for roof repair, they are also entitled to complimentary field training for their facility employees and/or interface with their local RMI roofing contractor.

Historically, we have found that a sound in-house maintenance program will save time and $$$, it also sets the table for larger maintenance or roof renovation programs that can cost effectively mix and match the building owner and roofing contractor personnel.
